Are you a skilled and ambitious Linux system administrator looking to gain exposure to High Performance Computing, Big Data, Cloud and Infrastructure as Code? Do you want to solve all the IT challenges a world class scientific community can throw at you?  If so, then the Research Computing Services team within the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences is the place for you! 

The role provides an opportunity to work within a dynamic scientific computing environment, and offers attractive benefits, training and good opportunities for career progression. You will be part of a close-knit and experienced team which are responsible for the development and system administration of research IT infrastructure, with a particular focus on HPC, high capacity storage, Cloud (both on-premise and Public) and any future systems. 

You will have an excellent working knowledge of Ubuntu and Redhat Linux systems, likely to RHCSA/RHCE level or equivalent. Ideally, you have experience in HPC, scheduling systems, storage and software building. You will have to have excellent organisational and communication skills, be a strong team player and be able to work under your own initiative in a busy environment. Most importantly, you will enjoy solving problems, learning new skills and sharing your knowledge with people.
