University Academic Fellowships, the University’s search for 250 Great Minds are designed for academic researchers with proven abilities to carry out teaching and research. You will have an excellent research record and proven success in obtaining funding and possess a passion for delivering an exceptional student experience. As a UAF in Regional Economics and Productivity you will be part of a new, exciting and prestigious collaboration between the Applied Institute for Research in Economics, (AIRE) based in the Economics Division of Leeds University Business School and the National Institute for Economic and Social Research (NIESR) working with a team of globally renowned scholars.

Working across both institutions and generating sustained and meaningful collaborations with local and national government, you will engage in high quality, high impact research on regional productivity in the United Kingdom. Your research will explore how regional investments in infrastructure, social sustainability, and enterprise and job creation contribute to overall productivity and well-being in the United Kingdom and what changes in governance and coordination will be necessary to enhance regional success. With a clear and compelling academic plan you will deliver academic and educational impact at an international level.

Employed and primarily based at the University of Leeds, you will spend time at NIESR in London as you embark on a structured five year development programme, successful completion of which will lead to appointment as a Grade 9 Associate Professor at the University of Leeds.With a vision and drive to develop a prestigious internationally competitive research portfolio as well as a passion for undertaking research-led teaching you will make a significant impact on the performance, stature and profile of research and student education at The University of Leeds.
