Description :

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our research team within the School of Life Sciences at the University of Lincoln (starting from mid-October, or as soon as possible thereafter, the latest 1st November). The post is fixed-term and will last 6 months.

This externally funded position is to prepare for publication, a literature review assessing our current understanding of the causes, treatments and prevention of nausea in both humans and canines. Nausea can be induced by a wide range of stimuli, and typically acts as a signal that emesis (vomiting) is imminent. However, unlike emesis, the mechanisms of nausea and underlying neurophysiology are poorly understood. This is because nausea is not only a physiological response, but one that includes an affective response. The aim of this work is to produce a literature review in the form of a manuscript ready for submission to a scientific journal as well as the preparation of reports and presentations for dissemination of the information to both scientific and lay audiences.

The successful candidate will work closely alongside a multidisciplinary team comprising of Carl Soulsbury, Anna Wilkinson and Jonathan Cooper (University of Lincoln) in collaboration with John Hough (Nottingham Trent University). The candidate will have excellent communication skills, be experienced in relevant research methods, have experience writing reviews and have excellent scientific writing skills.

The University of Lincoln is a forward-thinking, ambitious institution and you will be working in the heart of a thriving, beautiful, safe and friendly city. The School of Life Sciences provides a stimulating environment for academic research, and is based in high quality, newly developed facilities.
