Technical Specialist - General Engineering and Fabrication (TS18-01)

In Technical Services at Staffordshire University we are looking for a highly organized, enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the team. To deliver high level instruction and support to students, staff and researchers in general engineering and fabrication. This post will also manage the new Digital Shed, an exciting new space which brings together additive and subtractive manufacturing processes in a maker space for all awards. 

A strong knowledge ofthe mechanics of materials and fabrication such asadditive and subtractive manufacturing / laser cutting, 3D printing prototyping, precision fabrication / CNC milling machines is essential, as well as managing a small team and a 3D print Bureau facility supporting a range of internal and external clientele.

The person sought must have a flexible and innovative approach to supporting the technical service requirements, proactive in researching new or applicable technologies and the ability to develop skills in new areas. The role holder will be required to provide an excellent level of customer service with strong people support skills and with the ability to ensure that deadlines are met.
