Description :

The University of Surrey is amongst the highest achieving universities in the United Kingdom, having been awarded the Times/ Sunday Times University of the Year Award for 2016. We are ranked 10th in The Times Higher Education Table of Tables for UK universities in 2017, and we are the recipient of four Queen’s Anniversary Prizes.  An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Personal Assistant to provide support and administrative duties in our Traded Services & Business Support Department. The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar role and be an organised and articulate individual with a positive and enthusiastic attitude.

Working closely with the Director of Traded Services and Business Support, you will be responsible for managing their diary and day to day activities and will help ensure the effective running of the department.

You will also support the HCCS team, covering in the absence of the Office and Systems Co-ordinator and have responsibility for the co-ordination of the licensing activity of the department.

The work is confidential, varied and at times unpredictable and as such the role requires someone with strong emotional intelligence and communication skills who is an excellent planner and organiser.  The unpredictable nature of the work means that at times there are peaks in workload, so an ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines will be important.  Flexibility to work outside of core hours at times is also preferred.

Comfortable working with a high degree of independence, you will also have well developed analytical and numeracy skills.  You will be required to service committees and meetings, so sound grammar and proven written skills, with an ability to ensure accuracy in all communications will also be key attributes.

The successful candidate will have experience of supporting senior level colleagues in a complex organisation, using MS Office applications, and producing standard data reports and executive presentations for boards and committees.

In addition to a competitive salary you will receive 32 days annual leave/closure days and a great benefits package including pension and discounted membership to our world-renowned Surrey Sports Park.
