Deputy Senior Security Officer (ES5056-18-328-R)

Bring your previous experience in a security environment to this vital role where you will organise, inspire and motivate others to provide a critical security service.  Working as part of a busy team, you will use your initiative and judgement to ensure the security of the university's buildings, staff and students.

On a day-to-day basis you would:

Ensure that you and the team carry out patrols of the University’s sites to safeguard the buildings, staff and students.

Manage incidents quickly and appropriately and guide and support the team to take the correct action

Ensure there is appropriate cover at all times, accommodating special events and incidents.

Follow up on all security and welfare incidents promptly taking follow up actions where required.

Build relationships with other security staff, guiding and supporting them in making judgements and advising on action to be taken.

Assist the Senior Security Officer in the management of the team, deputising in their absence.

Essential to the role is the ability to deal proactively and sensitively with complex and challenging situations and to respond calmly and be assertive when required.  The ability to adapt easily to change and meet competing priorities is also essential, as is the ability to make decisions in sometimes difficult situations.  You should also hold a clean driving licence to be able to travel quickly and efficiently to other sites.

This is a permanent full-time position and the hours of work are between 21:30 and 05:30 hours worked on a 5 nights on, 3 nights off rolling 8-week rota.  Previous applicants are welcome to apply but please be aware that the job description and person specification have been updated to more accurately reflect the role.
