Role Responsibilities

The Digital Research team works alongside researchers to ensure the University provides a world-class environment for digital research by defining the digital capabilities that researchers need. We have an exciting one year opportunity for an existing member of staff to join us as a Digital Research Specialist to work in partnership with a Faculty to provide leadership in digital research, helping the University to drive innovation and new ideas to maximise digital research opportunities.

As a Digital Research Specialist, you will be responsible for engaging with researchers globally across the University and will work alongside IS to understand how digitalisation is changing research and the needs of researchers. The Digital Research Specialist will work closely with Information Services (IS) in order to help researchers make the best use of IT, and to give IS insight into the needs of researchers. You will be expected to work across faculties and to support major multi-disciplinary research initiatives. This opportunity has a particular focus upon communication and engagement and will be expected to work across faculties to support major multi-disciplinary research initiatives and events.

You will also work closely with other members of the Digital Research team, as well as engaging with senior stakeholders across the university to set the strategic direction for digital services and digital research at the University of Nottingham.

Core Skills

Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification/experienceExperience of working with researchers to understand and develop digital solutionsStrong experience of undertaking research and/or research supportKnowledge and understanding of the research life cycleKnowledge of external funding and research collaboration environmentsExperience of writing and/or supporting grant/funding applicationsExperience of developing a communication and/or engagement strategyExcellent understanding of  Research Data Management techniquesFast, self-directed learner, familiar with current, new and emerging digital technologies

This is a full time, fixed term post for 12 months. Jobs share arrangements may be considered.
