The University of Southampton is home to the Wessex Institute which oversees a number of research funding programmes, including those that are managed on behalf of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and the National Institute for Social Care and Health Research (NISCHR).

A vacancy has arisen for a part-time Assistant Finance Manager within the Finance Team based at Chilworth. You will work within the Finance Team supporting the Finance Managers with the day to day organisation and delivery of the finance service.  You will also be responsible for the financial administration of the programmes within Wessex Institute and you will provide accountancy support and general financial advice to both internal and external stakeholders.

You will be educated to an A level standard or equivalent, ideally you will have an AAT qualification or be working towards one, and have extensive experience in a finance role.  You will also be a well-organised, analytical and self-motivated individual who is able to prioritise their own workload and use initiative to adapt and refine working practices.  You will be able to multi-task and be confident using the MS Office suite, particularly Excel.

The working pattern will be 3 full days but can be flexible on specific days (the department are also accepting applications from candidates who are able to work between 14-21 hours per week).
