Research Fellow (1057218CF)

You will have a social science or health sciences background to join our team of researchers and clinicians in end of life care. The post will involve working on projects within the End of Life work programme in the School of Health Sciences. The role offers an opportunity to contribute to an overall research programme in end of life, led by Professor Alison Richardson, which works to continually develop and improve palliative and end of life care, identifying and addressing the issues patients, their families, healthcare professionals and organisations confront in the face of deteriorating health and critical illness.

Working under the direction of Dr Michelle Myall, you will carry out literatures searching and reviewing; preliminary work to support grant proposal development; assist with NHS ethics and research governance processes; conduct qualitative data collection and analysis; analyse and synthesis quantitative data and undertake administrative duties related to the post.

To be successful it is essential that you are experienced in carrying out qualitative research, have excellent literature reviewing skills, the ability to organise your own workload to a high quality standard and to deadlines, excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience of undertaking research in end of life care and knowledge of the NHS would be an advantage.

Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification.  The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.

The post is offered on a fixed term basis until 31 March 2019 in the first instance.
