An opportunity for an emerging researcher to progress their career

About You

You should have a good honours degree in children’s physical activity and health, or similar (higher degree is desirable), and have experience of conducting high quality physical activity and health research involving children, teachers, and parents in school settings. You will have experience of project management, be passionate about working with children and about physical activity promotion, and have excellent written and oral communication skills.

You will have experience of measuring physical activity using accelerometry and will have good IT, scientific, and statistical analysis skills. Experience of using qualitative research methods is desirable but is not essential if you are willing to learn and develop in this area.

About the Role

The project aims to use compositional data analysis to examine associations between 24-hour movement behaviours and behavioural, psychological, and cognitive health outcomes in children and adolescents. The project is a collaboration between the Waterloo Foundation, Edge Hill University, and the University of East Anglia.

The role will involve leading the school-based phase of the project by coordinating the project and gathering data relating to children’s sleep, sedentary behaviours, physical activity, and various indicators of behavioural, psychological, and behavioural health. The role will also involve dissemination and impact work once data collection and analysis are complete.
