The music education research group specialise in working closely with schools, academies, colleges, and music organisations working with children and young people in the compulsory stages of education.   As an integral member of this highly active research group you will undertake research involving data collection, interviews, learning views, and other forms of participatory music-making observations. The music education research team have a number of externally funded research and evaluation projects which take place across the whole country at the moment, and so a willingness to travel is essential. We would also hope that you will have ideas of your own for research which can be included in our portfolio.   You will have at least a good first degree, although a higher degree or equivalent would be advantageous. You will know about research methods, and how to undertake observations of learning and musical activity. A sound working knowledge of music education in schools is essential for this role. As this position involves working with children, enhanced DBS clearance will be required. This position may be suitable for a job share.
