We are looking to appoint a Head of Department for the Department of Secondary and Post-Compulsory/Adult Education.  The Department runs PGCE Secondary programmes across most areas of the Secondary Curriculum and is a leading provider of initial training and education for Post-compulsory education, both in its own right but also with a number of colleges across the region Birmingham City University holds the contract for the Teach First PGDE programme in the East and West Midlands regions and approximately 150-200 Secondary Teach First participants commence the programme every year. The Head of Department is responsible for the strategic oversight and development of the Department’s portfolio and the management of resources to deliver these programmes.  In this, s/he will be supported by a team of Course Leaders working as part of the Departmental management group.
