Description :

We are looking for three outstanding academics (from Lecturer to Senior Lecturer level depending on experience, equivalent to Assistant/Associate Professor) who wish to build their career at the School of Computing & Communications at Lancaster. Although we are seeking candidates complementary to our strengths (Networking and Communications, Software Engineering, Distributed Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, Data Science, Security and Ubiquitous Computing/IoT), we are open simply to applications from exceptional candidates who believe they can make a strong contribution to the School.

We offer a stimulating multidisciplinary environment which includes enormous opportunities to engage via our interdisciplinary research institutes in Cybersecurity, Data Science and Social Futures, and capitalise on major new investments in Digital Health including our £42m health innovation campus.

We expect you to have outstanding technical expertise in a relevant area and a clear track record of achievement and publication at the top of your field. You must have a compelling vision for taking your research forward to have significant impact, and you should have a strong motivation to advance your work through working collaboratively across research fields.
We are looking for engaged future colleagues who expect to contribute to the collegiate environment in the school. These positions require a commitment to excellence in both research and inspiring teaching. You will be expected to help expand our research including showing initiative in securing research funding; delivery of high-quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; and contributing to the administration and day-to-day running of your research group and the wider School of Computing and Communications.

SCC is an international centre of excellence.  The School was ranked 7th in the UK in terms of “world-leading and internationally excellent” research by the UK government’s REF2014 evaluation.  Lancaster is TEF Gold and Times/ Sunday Times University of the Year, recognising our ongoing commitment to both research and teaching, and major investments in our campus and facilities.
We offer a highly inclusive and stimulating environment for career development. As an Athena SWAN Bronze accredited school we are committed to family-friendly and flexible working policies; we recognise and celebrate good employment practice to address gender equality in higher education and research.

Potential candidates are strongly encouraged to contact Professor Adrian Friday to discuss research fields and to learn more about our research group and the School’s research environment – email scc-hr-enquiries@lancaster.ac.uk.

We welcome applications from people in all diversity groups
