Description :

Can you provide high level technical support and advice in a research group investigating human gastrointestinal cancer? Do you have research/clinical laboratory experience, preferably at Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) level or equivalent? Have you worked with clinical samples and are comfortable in clinical and laboratory environments? 


You will be working under the supervision of Prof Phil Quirke and the laboratory manager for clinical, academic and industrial research projects, within a research group comprising post-doctoral research fellows, PhD students, clinical fellows and research support staff involved in a range of projects related to human gastrointestinal cancer.Your role will be to ensure the Section is compliant on a day-to-day basis with Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) requirements of the Trials undertaken 


You will be responsible for developing new laboratory techniques and the performance of a wide range of morphological immunohistochemical molecular and phenotypic techniques.You will have relevant laboratory research and supervisory experience as well as the requisite knowledge and experience of running projects.


This post is based within the School of Medicine in the newly merged Institute which will bring together the Leeds Institute of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences (LIBACS), Leeds Institute of Cancer and Pathology (LICAP), Academic Business Support team and St James’ Campus Infrastructure Facilities. The name of the new institute is currently being considered and will be confirmed in the near future. The post is located in the Wellcome Trust Brenner building at St. James’s University Hospital.
