Description :

This is an exciting and critical new role, which has been created to support activities to engage Lancashire SMEs in the development of apprenticeship provision and technical and professional education.

The University seeks to appoint a Project Support Officer to work with the project manager and provide a high level of administrative support for this £2m European Social Fund (ESF) project.

The Employer Engagement for Skills in Manufacturing and Engineering (EnginE) project  will support 200 Advanced Engineering and Manufacturing (AEM) SMEs across Lancashire in partnership with Blackpool & the Fylde College, Blackburn College, Northwest Aerospace Alliance (NWAA) and the Northern Automotive Alliance (NAA).

The project will provide SMEs with technical and professional development opportunities and access to apprenticeship education provision. EnginE will provide a platform to accelerate growth in these areas through enabling collaborative approaches between employers, Further Education and Higher Education providers. The project structure will create an environment to assist multiple AEM SMEs and meets their varying needs by offering a flexible approach to building their capacity via an increasing number of work placements, traineeships, apprenticeships, and graduate placements.

Activities range from workshops and networking events; action planning sessions through apprenticeship taster sessions, peer learning forums; and culminating in bespoke, intensive and longer term technical placement and internship opportunities and participation in apprenticeship modules co- designed for AEM SMEs to demonstrate the maximum value of higher level vocational skills.

Your role will be to provide a key contact point for the EnginE project team and SMEs engaging in the project whilst also supporting the marketing, recruitment and administration of the project. You will be able to coordinate a varied workload and work closely with the Project Manager to provide financial information and reporting on client activity and ensure adherence to the audit requirements of this project through maintenance of accurate records.

The project team is located across Lancashire and you will be required to organise and attend events throughout the region so therefore the ability to travel and occasionally attend events out of hours is a requirement.

This post is funded by the European Union through the European Social  Fund Programme 2014-2020 and is offered on a fixed term basis until 30th September 2020.
