We are keen to appoint an experienced Business Development Manager, with a proven track record of building customer relationships at senior management level. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new national organisation from the outset - designing and leading the development and delivery of the Institute of Coding’s business development strategy.

The Institute of Coding (IoC) is a national initiative, funded by the Government through the Office for Students (£20M) and is led by the University of Bath. It brings together 25 universities, and over 60 employers, training providers and professional bodies to collaborate, develop and deliver innovative, industry-focused higher education across the UK. It will develop industry accredited degree schemes and short courses aimed at professionals, as well as working to widen the participation of women, returners to work and hard to reach groups. 

This is a high profile project with interest from government and industry and requires an experienced professional used to operating at the highest levels.

The Institute’s vision is to enhance the education and employability of every IoC learner, and ensure that employers and individuals across the UK can access the skills they need to compete in the global digital economy. The aim is that, together, we can help to address the UK’s digital skills gap.

To be a successful in this role you will have expert negotiation/influencing skills and proven experience of business development with measureable impacts. Your role will be to identify and engage with new employers, encouraging them to participate in Institute activities; signposting them to the courses on offer, and promoting the skills development opportunities provided by the IoC, including workforce training.

You will be responsible for increasing the number of IoC partners and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the Institute by securing industry-commissioned courses, consultancy projects and developing membership schemes.

You will identify and communicate employer needs to the IoC and facilitate effective interaction between employers and academia.

You will have experience of delivering business development strategies for a complex organisation and will relish the chance to be part of this innovative initiative.

This role is fixed term till 31/03/2021
