Description :

Are you an innovative and enthusiastic developer looking to join a likeminded team committed to the continuous delivery of high value features to develop LUSI (Lancaster University Student Information), the sector leading in-house Student Records system used by Lancaster University.

LUSI is undergoing significant redevelopment to a modern, responsive, dynamic web application and API underpinned by existing SQL Server databases. It interfaces with many other systems and supports the key University business processes.

We work in a purpose-built computer centre and have a strong focus on innovation, continuous improvement and staff development.  You will focus on further development of LUSI as well as a variety of other web-based and desktop systems, contributing to our exciting “Digital Lancaster” plans to maximise the opportunity for the exploitation of digital technologies.  To see more about what it’s like to work at Lancaster, (flexible working opportunities, flexible benefits, generous holiday entitlement, click this link).

You will join a positive working environment with strong business analyst support, and will be part of an established team following proven software development methodologies. You will initially be allocated a mentor who will work closely with you to support you and develop your skills.

You should have an understanding of contemporary web and database technologies, and experience of application development in a mainstream programming language.  You should display a willingness to learn.  Experience of delivering applications and building interfaces between disparate applications would be an advantage, as would experience of agile software development methods (e.g. Scrum).

You must have enthusiasm and a demonstrated capability for problem solving, developing new competencies, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and work well in a team.

This is a full time, fixed term post until January 2022.

If you would like further information and an opportunity to discuss the role, please contact Liz Shillito, Corporate Information Systems on +44 (0)1524 510132.
