Context

This eight month secondment is an excellent opportunity for an experienced project manager to play an active role in one of the University’s most exciting change programmes. The University’s Digital Strategy is an ambitious initiative at the heart of UoN’s global, digital community, transforming the way digital services are delivered through the Digital Futures programme to over 50,000 users across the organisation.

Job Purpose

As part of this transforming organisation, we are seeking to invest in a delivery focused Senior Project Manager who will work as part of the team delivering the Digital Futures Programme. They will take responsibility for projects within Digital Research, one of the six core workstreams, and ensure that delivery is underpinned by a professional approach to programme and project management and is delivered on schedule, to agreed quality standards and within budget. The role holder will matrix manage project managers as part of the delivery of the Digital Research workstream. 

Job Responsibilities

Working with the Digital Research Director and the Digital Futures Senior Programme Manager, the Senior Project Manager will entail undertaking and/or supporting others to undertake all aspects of project and programme management from inception to implementation across a wide variety of high-profile digital related project activities, usually involving institutional change.

Core Skills

Formal degree or equivalent qualification/relevant experienceCurrent qualification in project management (ideally PRINCE2/MSP/APM)Proven experience of managing a range of large scale projects and programmes in a complex environment from inception through to implementation, including change managementDemonstrable experience of working in a delivery focused environment to ensure quality and continuous improvement to enable the successful delivery of technology solutionsProven experience of building strong relationships across organisational boundaries and with stakeholder groups, including internal and external partnersExperience of influencing, negotiation and managing conflict whilst ensuring deliverables are achieved within timescales, budget and quality standardsHighly desirable but not mandatory - Proven experience of managing technology related projects and programmes in a complex IT environment

Communication

Self-motivated and dynamic individual, able to challenge and influence others to change their ways of working and be able to develop collaborative working relationshipsHigh level, proven inter-personal and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to lead, motivate and engage a team of IT professionals

This is a fixed term secondment vacancy until July 31st 2019, available only to University of Nottingham employees. Requests for secondment from internal candidates will be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
