The University of Southampton is a research intensive university, with research income in excess of £136 million.  Research and Innovation Services (RIS) is recruiting a Research Funding Manager to drive the delivery of the University’s GCRF Strategy, processes and procedures in relation to GCRF development.  You will provide academic and research colleagues’ expert advice and assistance in Official Development Assistance (ODA)-compliant research funding (UK/international), bid support and management.

We are seeking to recruit a Research Funding Manager to work globally with researchers from the University of Southampton to identify and find routes to translate GCRF/ODA compliant projects that can address Sustainable Development Goals. Previous experience within an international research environment (especially in developing countries) would be advantageous. You will provide researchers with timely information and intelligence about forthcoming funding opportunities, supporting internal peer review processes, tracking a portfolio of grant applications and outcomes, and assisting with initiatives to support the University’s performance in securing GCRF/ODA-compliant external research funding.  Part of a specialist research support team, you will advise and support research staff throughout the research grant application preparation process to ensure that high-quality bids are submitted and due diligence processes are in place.  

You will have excellent communication skills, be well-organised with the ability to multi-task and to work well as part of a busy team. You will be a self-starter and enjoy the challenge of making things happen in a fast-moving environment. You will have excellent communication skills in a customer-focused environment. Experience in working in a research support capacity within the Higher Education sector would be advantageous.
