Description :

The Department for Health is seeking to appoint an experienced Teaching Fellow with a track-record of excellence in research project supervision. The successful applicant will contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes within the Department. This is likely to include taught units for undergraduate students on the social study of health, and for postgraduate students on research methods and design.  The role will also include supervision and support of students on our Professional Doctorate programme who are in the early phases of research project design and preparation. An interest in, or experience of, teaching health professionals is therefore also desirable.

This post is advertised as one full time position, but could be split into two part-time roles, each with a different primary focus: (1) The social study of health, providing teaching and support for undergraduate students on our BSc Health & Exercise Science and BA Sport & Social Science courses and (2) research design and methods, delivered to postgraduate students on our distance learning Master’s and Professional Doctorate programmes.  We are happy to consider applications for either part-time or a combined full-time role, but please specify clearly on your application form which you would like to apply for.

The Department is committed to delivering excellence in both research and teaching, and to providing a supportive and inclusive working environment. We deliver a number of highly ranked campus-based UG programmes, and blended learning PG programmes specifically designed to accommodate the professional development needs of practicing health professionals. The post represents an exciting opportunity to work with a very broad range of students in a dynamic and varied environment.

This is a 12 month fixed term position to cover a period of temporary absence, with a start date of 2nd January 2019.
