Staffordshire University’s Health & Clinical Skills Hub, within Technical Services, wish to appoint a Technical Specialist (Nursing and Midwifery) to work within the team at the Centre of Excellence in Healthcare Education – Blackheath Lane, Stafford.  The requirements of the role is also to support delivery of new clinical skills-practice sessions in the new simulation suites at the Stoke Campus.This is a 1.0 Full Time Equivalent permanent position working 37 hours a week. 

As the successful postholder, you will be responsible for delivery of professional skills-practice to Healthcare Professions programmes.  In the process, you will provide effective high-level clinical and specialist technical instruction, support and advice to academic staff and students across a wide range of technologies and clinical-skills practice within areas of Nursing and Midwifery. 

In conjunction with preparing specialist equipment and laboratories for clinical-skills teaching sessions, you will operate and maintain low and high-fidelity simulation resources, supporting staff and students in the use of specialist clinical equipment.  In addition, you will be responsible for the ordering of clinical consumables and ensure adherence to safe working practices in accordance with Health and Safety regulations.

The successful candidate will be a team player who is self-motivated with a positive and flexible attitude to work, possessing good organisational skills.The successful candidate will possess NMC registration and be expected to maintain registration as part of the role.

Some occasional travel between university sites (Shrewsbury and Stoke Campuses) will be necessary.  Specialist training will be provided where necessary for the right candidate with regard to simulation resources used.

The Department of Nursing is currently developing new curricular for pre-registration nursing and you will be instrumental in supporting the development and delivery of an innovative and technology enhanced programme that is fit for future healthcare needs.
