Staffordshire University’s Health & Clinical Skills Hub, within Technical Services, wish to appoint a Technical Specialist (Paramedic & Clinical Skills) to work within the technical team at the Centre of Excellence for Healthcare Education, Blackheath Lane, Stafford.  This is a 1.0 Full Time Equivalent permanent position working 37 hours a week. 

As a Health Care Professional, you will be required to meet and work to the guidance of the HCPC as either a qualified Paramedic or possess the appropriate qualification for an Associate Ambulance Practitioner.  You will provide specialist technical support to the Paramedic Science courses alongside additional team requirements covering the areas of Nursing, Midwifery and Operating Department Practice.

In addition to preparing specialist equipment and laboratories for skills teaching sessions, you will operate high-fidelity simulation, utilise patient recording equipment, support staff and students in the use of specialist clinical equipment, ordering clinical consumables, as well as ensuing adherence to safe working practices in accordance with Health and Safety regulations.

Possessing a self-start and can-do approach, the successful candidate will be a team player who is highly motivated with a positive and flexible attitude.You will have excellent organisational skills and be able to deliver high-level technical instruction, as well as Clinical and Paramedic techniques to a student audience, both individually and as a group. Candidates should ideally have previous experience of providing support within a busy clinical environment, with an ability to deal with numerous and varied workload requirements, often to tight deadlines.

Some occasional travel between sites (Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and Stoke Campus) may be necessary.  Training will be provided where necessary to the right candidate.
