Description :

A Research Assistant position is offered with Dr. Denise Robertson’s group at the University of Surrey the effects of resistant starch intake in patients with type 2 diabetes. Resistant starch has been shown to have beneficial effects on blood glucose, however there has been very little translation of this initial work into clinical populations. This project will involve designing and administering test diets to participants and measuring blood glucose responses in the home environment using continuous-glucose monitoring systems (CGMS).

We are seeking a highly-motivated dietitian/AFN registered nutritionist who enjoys research and has the willingness to learn new skills. Experience with dietary design and analysis is essential and previous experience of working in a research environment would be desirable. The post will involve close working with Dr Martin Whyte (Experimental Medicine) and Dr Bernadette Egan (Psychology). There will also be the opportunity to be involved in patient focus groups and to gain experience of Mixed-Methods research.

The proposed work will be carried out in the Department of Nutritional Sciences in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences (FHMS) at University of Surrey (Guildford). The University of Surrey is an excellent institution that provides an interdisciplinary research environment, facilitating access to relevant resources and centrally supported equipment.

For  further details or an informal discussion of the post please contact Dr Denise Robertson m.robertson@surrey.ac.uk
