Applications are invited for the post of Teaching Associate to join the Department of Psychology, Lancaster University for a fixed term period of 7 months from 3 January 2019. The post-holder will contribute to the teaching and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. 

At Lancaster, we believe that excellent teaching and research go hand in hand so we especially welcome applications from applicants whose research complements existing strengths in the Department.

We are looking for someone with:

expertise in teaching core psychology modules at undergraduate level,

experience of or potential to teach across a broad curriculum particularly our introduction to psychology (Year 1), but also courses up to MSc.

experience of undergraduate assessment and providing feedback conducive to student learning,

research interests in an area of psychology that complements our existing strengths, 

an interest and expertise in administration at a departmental level. 

The Department of Psychology at Lancaster has a core complement of more than 40 members of academic staff, and a thriving community of post-doctoral researchers and PhD students. The Department is well resourced for research, including specialist laboratories housing video observation and editing suites, eye-tracking and EEG labs, plus several other resources.  

Lancaster University excels in both teaching and research. It currently holds the award of University of the Year 2018 (awarded by The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide) and achieved Gold status in the 2017 Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF). In the latest Research Excellence Framework (REF2014), Psychology at Lancaster University was in the top 20 Psychology Departments in the UK for world leading (4*) research publications. The strength of the Department’s research is mirrored by the quality of its undergraduate program and by its postgraduate provision, which includes ESRC recognised PhD and Masters programmes within the largest Doctoral Training Centre in the UK.
