Description :

The Department of Economics is an independent part of the Lancaster University Management School (LUMS), which is the most research-intensive business school in the UK (REF 2014). With over 40 members of faculty from more than 15 countries, the Department provides an international, collegial and dynamic research environment with a commitment to world-class academic excellence.

We are currently looking to fill a position at the level of Lecturer (i.e., equivalent to Assistant Professor) or Senior Lecturer (i.e., equivalent to Associate Professor) in Macroeconomics. You should have a good track record in the field, including recent publications in internationally recognised journals (i.e., a publication is necessary also for Lecturer role), success in module development and curriculum innovation, and some experience on administrative duties (less so for Lecturer role). You will be expected to participate fully in the intellectual life of the department and of the faculty-wide Centre for Financial Econometrics, Asset Markets and Macroeconomic Policy, to maintain a high quality research agenda that reaches out to external networks of collaborators as well as contributing to research activities within the Department and the Faculty. This will include participating in externally funded collaborative research projects as well as seeking funding for one’s own projects. The teaching responsibilities will consist of a contribution to core subjects at any level as well to the research areas of the jobholder, as well as supervision of MSc and PhD students.

To apply online please click the apply button below. Please submit a cover letter, a copy of your CV, a sample of research papers and the names of three referees (applicants for the Lecturer role should have three reference letters sent by email to c.wareing@lancaster.ac.uk). A recruitment committee will be attending and conducting first-round interviews at the European Job Market (in December in Naples).

Please direct informal enquiries to Professor Maurizio Zanardi (m.zanardi@lancaster.ac.uk), Head of the Economics Department, or to Professor Ivan Paya (i.paya@lancaster.ac.uk), Chair of the Macro Recruiting Committee. Details of the activities of the department can be found at  http://www.lancaster.ac.uk/lums/our-departments/economics/ and information about the Management School as a whole can be found at http://www.lancaster.ac.uk/lums/

We welcome applications from people in all diversity groups.
