Description :

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Bath is further extending its strength in Analysis, notably in Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations, and seeks to make two appointments in Analysis. We welcome applicants at all career stages.

We are seeking applicants with exceptional promise or outstanding track record of independent research of international standing, commensurate with their experience, who will either build on or extend existing departmental strengths. The position at Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Reader level is in Analysis in the broad sense, including existing strengths at Bath listed below. The Chair position is focussed on Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations.

The Analysis group at Bath has for decades held an excellent international reputation. It has traditional strengths in Partial Differential Equations, Calculus of Variations, Control Theory, Multi-Scale Analysis, Geometric Analysis and Operator Theory. In recent years the Department has expanded its research portfolio with appointments in Harmonic analysis and Stochastic Analysis. The Analysis Group has a strong tradition of interdisciplinary links with applications. The planned appointment will strengthen or extend these research activities.

The opening at Chair level follows the recent award of a Royal Society and Medlock Professorship to Manuel del Pino. Outstanding candidates from all areas of Analysis of Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations are encouraged to apply via https://www.bath.ac.uk/jobs/CC6245.

Applicants for Lecturer (Assistant Professor) or Senior Lecturer/Reader (Associate Professor) should apply via this advert. Alongside completion of the application form you should also upload:

A full Curriculum VitaeA statement of research interests of up to 3 pages, also explaining how your work would strengthen existing activity at BathA one-page summary of teaching experience and strategy

Successful applicants will benefit from working in a vibrant research-oriented department with over 70 faculty, with a strong culture of postgraduate research, bolstered by the Department’s EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Statistical Applied Mathematics, in which the Analysis group is actively engaged.

Bath is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and provides for a high quality of life, with good transport links to the rest of the UK and fast connections to London.

Applications from all groups currently under-represented in academic posts are particularly encouraged. We are working to improve the present gender balance within the Department, and particularly welcome applications from women. Both the Department and the University are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive working environment. Flexible working options will be considered wherever possible.
