Recent advances in infrastructural investment include the establishment of a new £14.3m BBSRC/EPSRC Synthetic Biology Research Centre (SBRC) equipped with state of the art laboratories and instrumentation. This appointment is firmly aligned with the University’s Green Chemicals Beacon of Excellence. As part of the University’s expansive vision to address global challenges, the Green Chemicals Beacon aims to secure the low carbon economy of the future. Additionally, the University of Nottingham hosts a comprehensive portfolio of Doctoral Training Programmes that span biotechnology, energy and sustainable chemistry.

We seek to appoint an exceptional individual who has a growing portfolio of relevant research activity and a desire to play a leading role in our synthetic biology research activities. A key activity of this role will be to deliver academic expertise in microbial synthetic biology to solve challenging metabolic engineering problems and optimize new microbial chassis for e.g. industrial application.

Candidates must hold a PhD in a related subject or equivalent extensive professional/research experience in a related field. The candidate should have extensive research and teaching experience, with an established national and growing international reputation in the field of microbial synthetic biology.

This is a full-time permanent role, however job share arrangements may be considered.
