The University of Nottingham seeks applications for an Associate Professor in Molecular Pharmacology to lead a research programme relevant to existing research strengths in the School of Life Sciences, and to contribute to teaching on the undergraduate degrees delivered by the School.

The successful applicant will have an established track record in molecular pharmacology research in the area of receptor tyrosine kinases or related cell signalling pathways. They will primarily be expected to develop a programme of research that complements existing work in the School and aligned centres, such as the Centre of Membrane Proteins and Receptors(COMPARE), the Arthritis Research UK Pain centre, and the FRAME laboratories.

In particular, the successful applicant will have a willingness to collaborate with existing research teams in receptor pharmacology, cardiovascular physiology, and neurophysiology – with the aim of facilitating integration of molecular and in vivo investigations. They will work within the Division of Physiology, Pharmacology and Neuroscience in the School of Life Sciences and have access to excellent imaging, in vivo haemodynamics, electrophysiology and behavioural research facilities.

The role holder will be expected to already have developed a research track record and be a principal investigator on major research projects in the field of molecular pharmacology, and be able to identify opportunities for the development of new research projects and collaborations within the School and wider University research framework, and outside of the University.

The role holder will take responsibility for the quality of the design of courses/programmes to maintain high teaching standards and contribute to the delivery and assessments in the MPharm degree, with potential contributions to Biochemistry and Medical degrees.

The role holder may have line management responsibilities including the responsibility for the professional development of junior colleagues and contribute to the overall administration of the School.

Candidates must hold a PhD or equivalent in a subject area relevant to Molecular Pharmacology as well as extensive research and teaching experience with an established national and growing international reputation in the field of Molecular Pharmacology.

As part of the application process, please identify what you consider to be your 4 best papers to date.

This is a full-time permanent role, however job share arrangements may be considered.
