The University of Nottingham seeks applications for an Associate Professor in Neuroinflammation to lead a research programme relevant to existing research strengths the School of Life Sciences, and to contribute to teaching on the undergraduate degrees delivered by the School. 

The successful applicant will have an established track record in neuroinflammation research and will primarily be expected to develop a programme of research that complements existing work in the School and aligned centres, such as the Arthritis Research UK Pain centre, the FRAME laboratories, and the Centre of Membrane Proteins and Receptors (COMPARE). They will work within the Division of Physiology, Pharmacology and Neuroscience in the School of Life Sciences and have access to excellent imaging, electrophysiology and behavioural research facilities. 

The role holder will be expected to already have developed a research track record and be a principal investigator on major research projects in the field of neuroinflammation, and be able to identify opportunities for the development of new research projects and collaborations within the School and wider University research framework, and outside of the University. 

The role holder will take responsibility for the quality of the design of courses/programmes to maintain high teaching standards and contribute to the delivery and assessments in the BSc in Neuroscience, with potential contributions to Biochemistry, Pharmacy and Medical degrees. 

The role holder may have line management responsibilities including the responsibility for the professional development of junior colleagues and contribute to the overall administration of the School. 

Candidates must hold a PhD or equivalent in a subject area relevant to Neuroinflammation as well as the proven ability of effective research leadership, planning, and building and resourcing a research team and delivering research results.
