Description :

The University of Surrey is an international university with a world-class teaching and research profile and an enterprising spirit.  Inventive and forward thinking, our heritage shows a recurring theme of doing things differently – and achieving notable results.

As a result of our new strategic plan and future vision, the School of Biosciences and Medicine in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences is recruiting an exceptional individual to the following full time academic position to continue to add to the successes that the School, Faculty and University have already had.

Senior Teaching Fellow in Molecular Biology

Molecular biology is a subject that underpins all of our programmes within the School of Biosciences and Medicine.  Therefore, the post holder is expected to complement our existing strengths in molecular biology and to be able to collaborate with colleagues across the School of Biosciences and Medicine, and the wider Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, to deliver the best possible student experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

This post represents part of our planned future growth and development as a School.  If you are a dynamic, forward thinking team player with a ‘can do’ attitude and an ambition to achieve personally then please get in touch. As this is a teaching-focussed role, we expect the appointee to undertake pedagogic research as part of their professional development to facilitate promotion.

Successful applicants will have a PhD in a relevant subject and bring a record of achievement in scholarship.   They will take pride in providing high quality teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, working to improve methods of delivery and assessment by exploring, contributing to the development of, and embracing new approaches to pedagogy.

In return, we can offer an energetic and forward thinking working environment, leisure facilities and access to a variety of staff development opportunities.

Informal enquiries can be made to Dr Kikki Bodman-Smith, Director of Learning and Teaching (k.bodman-smith@surrey.ac.uk), and Dr Alfred Thumser, Strategic Lead for Education (a.thumser@surrey.ac.uk) by email.  For details on the benefits of working with us, and to apply on-line please visit our website:  www.surrey.ac.uk/vacancies.

We acknowledge, understand and embrace diversity and the School of Biosciences and Medicine is proud to be the recipient of the Equality Challenge Unit Athena SWAN Silver award
