The School of Computing and Communications is making a new appointment of Reader in Cyber Security.  This complements a new Chair position and our recent Chair appointment focusing on the systems aspects of Cyber Security.  We particularly welcome applications from strong and collegiate individuals in areas including but not limited to: Security in Programming Languages, Experimental Aspects of Security, Formal Methods Security or Risk Analysis, Socio-Economic Aspects of Security; or aligned to existing strengths including analysis of human behaviours in the context of security, security aspects of network resilience, security of industrial control systems and IoT, big data analytics to study security and privacy issues, digital health and open online data sources, and novel privacy frameworks.

The position will have the unique opportunity to contribute to the growth and future direction of Security Lancaster, and exploit synergies with institutes of Data Science, Social Futures, Material Science, and the £41m investment in a new Digital Health campus.

We invite applications from candidates with appropriate specialist cyber security domain knowledge from academia, government and industry.  Candidates should have an established international reputation for leadership in their field; a proven ability to develop and direct a team; to secure significant external research funding; and to generate substantial impact. We expect candidates to be committed educators and to contribute to the development of our educational portfolio, including our international partnerships.

Salary levels are negotiable within the grade 9 salary scale based on achievements and experience. The post is tenured, subject to a successful probation period.  In UK, a Readership is a highly prized research-led career trajectory with the clear expectation of rapid progression to a full professorship.
