The positions will be within the Veterinary Preclinical School Department, part of the School of Veterinary Medicine in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences.

Having a strong record in interdisciplinary research, the Faculty is committed to providing an open and creative research environment that enables ground breaking discoveries for health and society. Areas of research strength within the department include cardiovascular physiology/cardiology, musculoskeletal physiology, ageing, electrophysiology, molecular biology and regenerative medicine.

Candidates with research interests that can align with or enhance current research in the department are particularly sought. On-going research in the department include elucidation of mechanistic insights into cardiac arrhythmia, stem cell therapy for cardiac regeneration, cardiovascular ageing, development of in-vitro models for drug testing, mechanistic clarification of cartilage regeneration & degradation.  An ability to interact with these research areas across the department and school is desirable.

The candidate will be expected to evidence an outstanding track record of achievement in scholarship and research, and have a clear strategy to attract and secure research funding. Candidates with an active research grant that is transferable is highly desirable. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the departmental REF submission with 4* papers and impact case studies.  The candidate will be required to contribute to teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and mentor and support junior members of the department in preparing and submitting bids.
