Due to staff being seconded to a HR/Payroll Systems implementation an exciting and immediate opportunity has arisen to join our Payroll team at the University of Surrey.  We are looking to recruit an experienced interim Payroll Manager to work as part of a proactive team, managing the delivery of the function to ensure a high quality payroll and employment tax service is delivered across the University.

Our Payroll team is part of HR Services at the University, and on average we pay 5,000 records on a monthly basis. Managing a team of 6 you will be responsible for the payroll function and employment taxes ensuring a timely, accurate and customer focused payroll service which complies with statutory legislation and internal policies and processes.

To be successful in this position you will need broad experience in a similar role and have ideally worked within the higher education sector, with experience of operating the NGA Resourcelink system.  You will also have excellent communication skills, strong UK Payroll legislation knowledge and experience of assessing and operating employment status.

Your knowledge of all aspects of pay and employment tax related matters will ensure you can act as the subject matter expert for colleagues and across the University, interpreting and reconciling complex financial data using your strong analytical skills.
