The Research Funding Office is looking to appoint a Temporary IT Support Worker to support the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the Research Information System (RIS), Worktribe. The RIS system will support the continued growth of research and the submission to the Research Excellence Framework (REF). 

As a member of the central Research and Enterprise team, the post holder will be responsible for the analysis, design and implementation of solutions for the RIS and its integration with associated systems. The Temporary IT Support Worker reports directly to the Research Funding Office Team Leader and will work across various departments within the University, including ICT and Library services.

Key Requirements

The Temporary IT Support Worker will:

Have excellent interpersonal skills; be able to liaise with staff at all levels in technical and non-technical terms.Have experience of supporting information systems (preferably within a Higher Education environment or web-based systems), and advising end users, acting in a help desk capacity, troubleshooting system problems.Have knowledge of data quality/data integrity standards and frameworks such as GDPR.Be able to liaise with internal and external sources e.g. software suppliers and ICTD for logging bugs, helping to troubleshoot and test problems as they arise.Be able to read and interpret release notes, to understand the impact of system upgrades on the operating environment.Have excellent written communication skills e.g. writing user guides and submitting system change requests.Have experience of system administration, configuration and maintenance of master data to agreed standards e.g. salary scales.Be able to deliver system training, either one-to-one or small group sessions.Be able to provide ad-hoc reports and statistics using data from information systems (both single source and multiple sources).

This is a temporary role with a proposed duration of 3 months.
