The University of Hull Logistics Institute (founded in 2008) is a world-class centre of excellence in global logistics and supply chain management. With state of the art facilities and a truly international outlook, the Institute is a focal point for logistics related education and development needs, working with organisations of all sizes and types. The Institute plays a leading role in high profile and extremely innovative research and industry collaboration projects that advances the use of technology in logistics and supply chain management. We are looking for talented and enthusiastic candidates to work with us to deliver these projects.

The work we do typically contain components of applied academic research, dissemination of information through web-sites and the prototyping and development of software applications. 

Reporting to the Operations Manager of the Institute, with academic support from the Director of the Logistics Institute, the role holder will contribute to the Institute’s worldwide reputation through leadership in research, development and prototyping of logistics solution. He/she will require skills, and a keen interest in software and hardware development, across all areas of the logistics solutions landscape. This includes technologies such as environment sensors (IoT), Arduino, Raspberry Pi, RFID, LoRaWAN, Ultra-wide band (UWB), data analytics, Hololens, 3D printing etc. The chosen candidate should also expect to be at the forefront of technical development of exciting new services and highly funded projects, and will play a significant role in the development of the Institute. They will work with a growing team of enthusiastic researchers, developers and technical partners across the UK.

The role requires at least a relevant master’s degree and preferably a PhD, or a candidate close to completing a PhD. 

We are looking for individuals who are self-reliant, with the ability to contribute to a multi-disciplinary team, as well as skills to work closely with key agencies and stakeholders. The role holder will be an ambassador for the Logistics Institute.

This is a fixed term position, ending May 2020.
