A Research Associate is required to work with Principal Investigator Professor Emma Rose and Co-Applicants Dr Amanda Bingley and Kirsten Lamb on a research project externally funded by British Academy/Leverhulme Small Research Grant.

The Institute for Contemporary Arts and the Division of Health Research at Lancaster University are collaborating with Freedom from Torture to offer an exciting opportunity for a Research Associate to work on the research project Art of Recovery: Migrating Landscapes.

The project collaborates with the charity Freedom from Torture in their Manchester Centre. Using qualitative methods the project aims to assess how a participatory arts intervention influences recovery and social reconnection outcomes for refugees who have survived torture. The Research Associate will be part of the team implementing the intervention, which includes the development of a transferable model of art workshops to inform those supporting refugees, such as health professionals and other service providers and NGOs, funders, and policy-makers.

Eligible candidates will be UK/EU Doctoral graduate students with a qualification from a recognised university in a relevant arts, health, or social sciences discipline. You should demonstrate a committed interest and experience in the field of arts and health research. Applicants who have training or experience of qualitative research methods will be preferred. 

Suitably qualified candidates are invited to apply for the Research Associate post, for employment from 1st Feb 2019 to 31st Sept 2019. This is a 0.2 FTE (7 hours) fixed term appointment for 8 months at Grade 6.
