Description :

Join a unique British University in China. The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) was the first Sino-foreign university to open its doors in China. This award winning campus offering a UK style education has grown to establish a student body of over 7,000 in just over 14 years.

Since the development of the Nottingham-Ningbo campus in 2004, the Centre for English Language Education (CELE) has aimed to promote high quality EAP teaching in its structure and support of academic programmes delivered in China.

With over 100 academic staff, the CELE operation at UNNC is now one of the largest of its kind in the world and is currently supporting almost 8000 students on its Preliminary Year, Pre-Sessional and Academic Literacy Development Centre programmes.

Throughout the academic year, the Centre is also actively involved in the delivery of teacher training and the teaching of bespoke courses in various aspects of English for Specific Purposes (ESP).

Applications are invited from suitably qualified English language teaching professionals able to offer experience and expertise in one or more of the following key fields; EAP/ESP teaching, Teacher training (experience in the delivery of internationally recognised qualifications such as CELTA, DELTA and their equivalents preferred); EAP/ESP syllabus and curriculum design, EAP/ESP assessment, and e-learning and the application of Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs).

The successful candidates will be primarily responsible for delivery of a portfolio of credit-bearing and continuing support classes in EAP/ESP to students enrolled on undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC). However, dependent on individual tutors’ aptitude and experience, there is also scope for their involvement in specific projects around teacher training, the design and delivery of bespoke training packages in various aspects of ESP, and our Academic Literacy Development Centre which offers in-sessional provision to students across the University.

Candidates should be Cambridge ESOL DELTA or MA in ELT/Applied Linguistics qualified (or equivalent) and should have experience of full-time EFL teaching together with some EAP teaching (e.g. UK University summer ‘Pre-Sessional’ teaching). Confidence in analysing language and providing constructive and explicit feedback on students’ spoken and written work are also essential. EAP/ESP teaching experience, including Foundation level teaching and experience of teaching in mainland China or with Chinese Foundation level students would be a distinct advantage.

Salary will be within the range RMB 364,507 – RMB 435,242 per annum (pro rata for fractional post), depending on skills and qualifications, salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance. An attractive package, including accommodation allowance, flights and insurance will be provided for international appointments.
