Are you a statistician interested in joining a team whichwill ultimately impact the provision of future healthcare for critically illchildren?

Established in 2001 and coordinated by the Universities ofLeeds and Leicester, PICANet is an exciting project, collating details of thetreatment of all critically ill children in NHS Paediatric Intensive Care Unitsin the UK and Republic of Ireland. Utilising an expanding clinical auditdataset (already in excess of 360,000 event records), the project facilitatesthe planning of future health service research and interventions.

We are seeking a Research Statistician to join ourPaediatric Intensive Care Audit Network (PICANet). You should have a degree ina numerate discipline and practical experience of advanced statisticaltechniques. You will be responsible for analysing existing data, developinganalytical methods and, together with clinical and academic colleagues,providing collaborative support for use of the data in audit, applied healthresearch and clinical trials. You will also provide support to NHS Trust staffas well as contribute to the production of and presentation of progress reportsto sponsors and national bodies. Your effective communication and interpersonalskills will be essential in building rapport with colleagues at the Universityof Leicester as well as NHS Trust staff, providing support and guidance toensure accurate reporting into the database.

While the post is based on the University of Leeds campus,travel to meetings or to visit other organisations, in particular NHS Trusts,will be required on occasion.
