Description :

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant (microbiological screening) to support the development of Synthetic Teixobactins. This project involves the development of simplified highly potent synthetic teixobactins against Multi-drug resistant bacterial infections using unique design and efficient synthesis developed at Lincoln. It will build on our exciting work on synthetic teixobactins. Some examples of teixobactins research at Lincoln are:

Design and Syntheses of Highly Potent Teixobactin Analogues against Staphylococcus aureus, Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), and Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococci (VRE) in Vitro and in VivoJournal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2018, 61, 2009-2017https://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/acs.jmedchem.7b01634http://www.itv.com/news/calendar/2018-03-26/breakthrough-on-road-to-superbug-killing-antibiotic/https://www.chemistryworld.com/news/simplified-structure-eases-antibiotic-synthesis/3007718.articlehttps://www.chemistryworld.com/news/molecular-structure-is-teixobactins-pi%C3%A8ce-de-r%C3%A9sistance/2500349.articlehttps://www.telegraph.co.uk/health-fitness/body/10-million-lives-could-lost-superbugs-far-have-got-race-beat/https://www.chinadailyhk.com/articles/40/192/75/1536920624944.html

This project will develop a library of Synthetic Teixobactins against clinically relevant multi-drug resistant (MDR) bacteria. This is a multi-disciplinary project at the interface of chemistry and medicine have work packages in synthesis and microbiological evaluation of molecules. This post will support the microbiological screening of synthetic teixobactins and will be based within the School of Pharmacy at the University of Lincoln. This post offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in antimicrobial drug development with leading researchers.
