Our research ambitions can be summarised as “Better, Bigger, Broader, Bolder" and we are investing significantly to recruit high performing academic staff; fund more doctoral students and improve our research infrastructure and systems. The Research Office, led by the Director of Research, part of the Research, Innovation & Enterprise (RIE) professional services department, has the primary aim of “enabling excellent research”. The Research Office teams provides longitudinal support "from idea to impact" to academic staff seeking funding and delivering research projects; support the University's doctoral student community along their development journey  “from application to award” and works in partnership with faculties and professional services to grow research excellence, strengthen impact and improve our research environment. We are also investing significantly in new systems to better manage information about our research, our researchers and their outputs and impacts and we are currently implement a new current research information system (CRIS).   The Research Information Manager will lead a team of staff responsible for managing research performance data; evidencing impact; ensuring effective open-access and improving processes to ensure research integrity, effective ethical review and compliance with GDPR for research data. The Research Information Manager will also be responsible to the Director of Research for oversight and management of data to support the University’s submission to REF2021 and to provide research intelligence; performance metrics and benchmarking data to stakeholders across the University. The successful candidate will be educated to good honours degree level or equivalent professional qualification and a postgraduate taught or research qualification in a data-intensive subject would be highly desirable. Substantial experience of managing research data and research systems, ideally in a Higher Education research environment is required. Prior experience of implementing, using and training users of Current Research Information Systems (CRIS) would be highly desirable. The post holder must also demonstrate the personal attributes required to engender build trust, confidence, credibility and rapport with team members; academic and research staff and relevant professional services teams.
