Are you an experienced technician looking for a challenge? Do you have a background in molecular/cell biology or biochemistry? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research intensive Universities?
We are looking for a highly motivated technician to join the laboratory of Professor Nikita Gamper working on a 5 year Wellcome Trust funded project providing technical support and performing experiments investigating molecular mechanisms of pain transmission. The work will involve maintenance and genotyping of transgenic mice, use of molecular biology techniques to design and prepare recombinant DNA, western blotting, immunohistochemistry, maxi-prep plasmid purification and other biochemical and molecular biological procedures. There will also be the possibility to contribute to behavioural experiments on mice.
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of the technical community within the Faculty of Biological Sciences which is at the forefront of the University of Leeds’ activity to support the Science Council and Gatsby Foundation led Technician Commitment initiative.
The University of Leeds and the Faculty of Biological Sciences are committed to providing equal opportunities for all and offer a range of family friendly policies. The University is a charter member of Athena SWAN (the national body that promotes gender equality in higher education), and the Faculty of Biological Sciences was reawarded a Bronze award in 2017. We are proud to be an inclusive Faculty that values all staff, and are happy to consider job share applications and requests for flexible working arrangements from our employees.
