Legal Officer (AQ0070)

A rare opportunity has arisen to join the Legal Services Team in the Directorate of Legal, Governance and Compliance.

Two full-time Legal Officers will join an established and busy legal team, reporting to the Senior Legal Officer. The Legal Officers will be key points of contact for a wide spectrum of legal work and conduct legal and non-legal matters of varying complexity with and without supervision. The Legal Services Team handle matters ranging across the entire business of the University, including commercial and other contracts, intellectual property, research related agreements, partnerships, property, employment, data protection, other compliance topics and more. The Legal Officers will therefore be exposed to an impressive variety of work and have the benefit of training alongside experienced and knowledgeable lawyers.

The posts attract a salary of between £19,202 to £33,199 which means they cover three bandings: Band 4/AQ0067, Band 5/AQ0068 or Band 6/AQ0069. The salary/band is dependent on the applicant’s level of qualification and experience; the requirements can be found in each of the job descriptions. Qualities which are important regardless of banding are the ability to work accurately and have attention to detail; experience of managing deadlines and prioritising workload, and the ability to work confidently and effectively with internal and external people and organisations.

There is opportunity for the successful post holders to advance within these salary/band parameters as their level of experience and/or qualification increases and to potentially be supported through further training.
