Summary of the post

We are looking to employ several (6 - 9) Community Support Workers to engage in their local communities to raise awareness of symptoms of lung health. This will include supporting planned events such as roadshows, as well as engaging within communities e.g. to community centres/groups etc. The aim is to get our message out to promote awareness of lung cancer and positive outcomes, and encourage the behaviour change we are aiming for (i.e. attending the doctor with potential lung cancer symptoms). 

This is a temporary post for 15 months. Hours will be variable but not expected to be more than 10 hours per week.


Main Duties

To be the first point of contact for members of the publicTo communicate and engage well with members of the publicTo provide support to rest of team and regularly keep in contactTo explain the project to members of the public and encourage them to engage in the studyTo treat all colleagues and members of the public with dignity and work within and adhere to equal opportunities statement and policies.To assist participants to complete a short questionnaireTo be able to use initiativeTo support in the planning and designing of community events/roadshowsTo attend meetings with manager and the rest of the team if requiredTo take part in group discussions on thoughts around the studyTo support the team and contribute to the research when required.To follow and adhere to confidentiality and comply with Data Protection Act and The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)To undertake essential training as provided

This role may require you to attend on evening and weekends

Full training will be provided to the successful applicants.

This post requires an enhanced clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for Adult and Children.
