Description :

The Lincoln School of Fine & Performing Arts resides in its own purpose-built building: The Lincoln Performing Arts Centre, which includes rehearsal studios and a theatre which runs its own programme of public arts events for the city.  The School has a growing reputation of international dimensions and sends student productions to the Edinburgh Festival each year. We are also in the process of developing our Level three touring company that tours alongside the extra-curricular performance company the Lincoln Dance Collective. Our Dance students are able to work towards IDTA accreditation, as well as take part in other Technique Classes from across the School. We are proud to be working within a strong team of dance academics and professional working artists of national and international status. Dance is situated alongside other courses in Drama and Theatre, Music and Fine Art. We welcome an interdisciplinary and collaborative ethos across our programmes and across the levels of study.

The School has developed its research portfolio and has a good record of attracting research funding, as well as a portfolio of professional practitioners. We are looking to recruit a full-time Lecturer in Dance or 2x 0.5 posts (depending on skills) for a period of 6 months to enhance our team and contribute to the development of both the BA Hons Dance and MA Choreography programmes. The role will initially be offered from January until the end of June; however, there is a possibility that the period could be extended beyond 6 months.

The ideal candidate/s will have particular expertise in any combination of the following areas:

Dance Technique at levels 5 and level 6. We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who specialise in Cunningham or Contemporary Ballet.

Conceptual Choreography at level 5. A practice based studio research module which enables students to respond creatively to identity theories. The module is informed by seminal artists who have influenced contemporary choreography, performance and live art. The module introduces choreographic strategies that extend beyond dance.

Practice as Research Methods at level 7. This module directly addresses the interrogation of theory with practice and encourages students to apply this directly to their own research ideas. The module explores Practice as Research frameworks and methodologies for developing, organising, and managing research plans. This work informs the independent Final Project module in Semester C of the Masters level programme.

Candidates should hold or be working towards a PhD, or demonstrate an equivalent research/professional practice profile.  All modules are practice based and heavily informed by research; therefore, candidates will need to demonstrate the ability to integrate practice and theory.

This post is full time, fixed term until 28 June 2019 or until the early return of the post holder.
