We are seeking to appoint a Research Associate to work on the EPSRC-funded INITIATE project.  The project aims to create a new, specialist distributed test-bed to facilitate the increasingly large and complex experimentation required for future Internet research. This will be achieved by interconnecting operational, state-of-the-art laboratories at the Universities of Bristol, Lancaster, Edinburgh and Kings College London. These laboratories will contribute many key capabilities for Internet research including optical networks, wireless/RF communications, LiFi and WiFi, the Internet of Things (IoT), Software Defined Networking (SDN), Network Function Virtualisation (NFV), system security, resilient networked systems, and cloud computing.

We invite applications from enthusiastic individuals with experience in relevant aspects of Computer Science or Electrical Engineering. You must be able to demonstrate a research background in the area of computer communications / networking, and have experience in working with networking infrastructures for the purposes of research and experimentation.Familiarity with the technologies and tools used to build network testbeds will put you at an advantage. We will also value highly your ability to learn rapidly and to adapt to new technologies beyond your current skills and expertise.
