HEON Administrative Assistant (093618)

An opportunity has arisen for a full time fixed term appointment in the HEON (Higher Education Outreach Network) team within the Widening Participation and Outreach Department.     HEON is a partnership working across Surrey and North East Hampshire as part of the National Collaborative Outreach Programme (NCOP). HEON delivers collaborative outreach to students from Years 9 -13 within certain wards who have low progression rates into Higher Education, providing them with impartial information, advice and guidance.    The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for supporting the HEON Team in a range of administrative functions, including maintaining financial databases, spreadsheets, web pages, invoicing and payments. They will also support with event organisation and administrative elements of delivering outreach work, including liaising with colleagues, schools and members of the wider community. The Administrative Assistant will be required to adopt a flexible and proactive approach to dealing with varying needs of the team and the partnership and be able to prioritise effectively and manage their time well in order to meet various deadlines. They will have a good general level of education and familiarity with Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel, Mail Merge and PowerPoint plus systems supporting finance/budget management and websites.    A flexible team worker with good communication skills, they will have excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work with limited supervision on a variety of tasks.    The University of Surrey is amongst the highest achieving universities in the United Kingdom, having been awarded the Times/ Sunday Times University of the Year Award for 2016.
