We are looking for a motivated, organised and enthusiastic individual with an interest in the manufacturing applications of fundamental science for a postdoctoral research position involving exciting new research projects which are just starting at the University of Nottingham. The post is available to start immediately. The vision of all of the projects is to apply continuous reactors, including continuous photochemistry, and thermal chemistry to transform how medicines are manufactured. All projects should lead to high impact publications.

The post will involve lab-based research and will be based in Nottingham but travel to Bristol and/or Southampton is likely be required. The successful candidates needs to have a first degree in chemistry or chemical engineering and a related PhD and a track record of successful research and research leadership. They will be computer literate with strong communications skills and a proven ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. They will be excited by variation rather than repetition and gain satisfaction from finding ways they can contribute to the success of these cutting-edge projects.  Specific skills needed are experience in organic photochemistry, high pressure flow reactors, especially near-critical and supercritical water and organic solvents, design of high pressure systems, and the use of NMR analysis for organic compounds. The post will be a 2-year fixed term appointment. 

The persons appointed will join a multidisciplinary team of approximately 30 people (postdocs and students) working at the University of Nottingham in Chemistry and Engineering (see https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/research/groups/photoelectro/photo-electro.aspx). . The projects are led by Professor Mike George and Sir Martyn Poliakoff and also involves Professor Pete Licence (Chemistry) and Professor Steve Pickering and Dr Richard Jefferson-Loveday (Mechanical Engineering).

This position will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 2 years, hours of work will be full-time (36.25 per week).
