Designability is an independent, not for profit, design and development charity working to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities and healthcare problems. http://www.designability.org.uk. The Charity is based in the Wolfson Centre, Royal United Hospital, Bath, BA1 3NG.

We are looking for a Production Unit Technician within our workshop team, who will be required to carry out a range of mechanical engineering tasks relating to the production of a variety of assistive living products and fabrication of engineering design prototypes.  The role also requires regular driving of company van for deliveries and collections.

The post holder should have NVQ level 1 in Performing Engineering Operations (or equivalent), with GCSE Maths and English, commensurate 'Hands-on' experience of a range of mechanical engineering processes, be a careful and methodical worker with good attention to detail. The post holder should also have a clean driving license and meet the criteria of the Designability vehicle insurance policy.  

This post is part time (22.5 hours per week/0.6FTE) and is being offered on a maternity cover basis.  The anticipated duration of the fixed term would be up to 12 months, or the early return of the post holder (whichever is the sooner).
