Are you an experienced Server and Storage Technician looking for a new challenge? Do want to use your skills working in a role maintaining the University IT provision for Students and Staff?Do you have excellent Customer Service Skills?

Working with colleagues across IT, you will be responsible for supporting the effective delivery of server and storage services in a complex environment. You will be responsible for working as part of a team to undertake a range of activities to support the provision of a robust and resilient infrastructure.

You will join a team supporting a variety of servers and storage solutions that underpin key business activities including; Active Directory (including federated services), Server Provision (both physical and virtual), Lecture Capture, Dynamics CRM, SharePoint, Office 365, SAP, Banner, Remote Access Services such as Desktop Anywhere, Web Hosting, Student Portal, Printing, Security and Compliance, Cloud Hosting and Provision. To help in delivery of these you will understand the technical aspects of operating systems including Windows Server, Solaris, Red Hat and Centos. You may also have some experience of Storage arrays, converged or hyper-converged architecture. 

You will work as part of a team to effectively provide support of server and storage infrastructure across the organisation including supporting activities for major change programmes, ongoing maintenance and upgrade activity. You will have a key role in triaging requests and incidents directed to the team, taking responsibility for identifying priority and criticality, escalating concerns to your line manager. You will develop experience of working with servers and storage infrastructure, with responsibility for trouble shooting straight forward issues, incidents and problems raised, as well as referring more complex requests to appropriate colleagues. You will support continuous service improvement within the function, sharing your knowledge and skills using a variety of approaches including maintenance and creation of knowledgebase articles and artefacts.
