Description :

The University of Hull has been shaping the future since 1927. With a vision that emphasises the pursuit of research excellence, impact and knowledge exchange, our plans are bold and ambitious. Research conducted at the University of Hull led to the development of liquid crystal display (LCD) screens, the technology behind bone density scanners (used to detect osteoporosis), and ‘lab-on-a-chip’ microdevice technology.  We are incredibly ambitious about our research agenda and we are building on our strengths to further the impact of our research.

Research and Innovation has been a key part of the University’s mission statement since it was founded, and we are aiming to significantly increase our level of Research & Enterprise-related activities, outputs and impact as part of the University’s strategic plan (2016-2020).

We are seeking a motivated and well-organised individual to work in the University’s central Research and Innovation Directorate to support the University’s preparations for the 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF 2021). The REF Support Officer will assist in the management of the University’s REF 2021 submission, ensuring close alignment with University’s research and REF strategies. The role will require strong analytical and communication skills and will work to operationalise REF guidance and criteria, manage data collection processes, analyse data and produce reports, and assist in the management of all internal REF processes. The REF Support Officer will work closely with academic and professional services staff at all levels to manage, prepare and provide feedback on all elements of the REF submission.

The post holder will report to the Research Excellence Manager and work with the Director of Research and Innovation and senior academic, and other professional colleagues from across the University to contribute to the University’s preparations for REF 2021.

This is a fixed-term role until 31st March 2021. To discuss this role informally, please contact Dr Andrew Taylor, Research Excellence Manager, E a.f.taylor@hull.ac.uk

Interviews will be held in late January or early February 2019.
